hi kiddies! [27 Feb 2004|09:15pm]
[ mood | busy ]

Okay, so I haven't touched the site since like May of last year. I'm working on it. ^^;;

For the latest news on what I'm up to, check out toolatetorun.com and thelovelymizmay. I'm hoping to do something in the way of cleaning this site up and updating it a bit, for it is SO RONERY. But for now... yeah. I've been moving on to other projects 'n stuff.

If anyone actually responds to this, I'll be shocked.

Okay, here's the deal. I'm now accepting requests for commissions, because I'm near-broke and need the money. Prices are negotiable, depending on the complexity of the request, likely no more than ten bucks for a pencil sketch and fifteen for an inked one.

E-mail me an idea of what you want (put 'art' or something in the subject) and I'll get back to you to see if it's do-able.

More practice drawing = more motivation = madder skillz = more chance for new comics. Yeeees!

p.s. - read TLTR, you bums.

So I'm still not dead. I went to AMA this past weekend, though, which has rendered me kind of a zombie.

I'm working on creating a new site for BAU, which will be a subdomain of toolatetorun.com, the site for the new comic project I'm assisting with. We pimped the comic a bit, but weren't quite as shameless or gung-ho as we could have been. It's all for the best, though, as we've only barely started. Better to start up the supermad pimpery once we have more product to push, yanno? ^^

As for the few who did get here, one way or another, I'm working on cleaning things up. It's like having company I just didn't plan for. ^^;;

In the meantime, I'm concentrating on assembling the con report. It should be up relatively soon, provided I don't go off on a tangent about the stupidity of peanut butter in tubes.

End transmission.

I'm actually not dead [12 May 2003|10:12pm]
[ mood | thoughtful ]

It's just hard to get to the PC these days, which is where the Art Happens.

I may in fact start posting more random sketchies (there's one in the Tuesday update queue as I write this, and I might pop a few more in after this) in gearing up for NEW BAU COMICS that must be scanned and arranged and lettered and whatnot...

The entire BAU archive shall be mirrored, soon, AND THEN SOME. These are not empty promises!

It's just been difficult juggling work (which is surprisingly pleasant) and home life and two completely different social circles (going on three, maybe)... and all spare createy-time ahas been funneled into the upcoming Too Late to Run (website pending), which will feature some characters of my design and a bit of my comedic writing influence, among other things. It'll have a lot of the quirkiness you people love in BAU, but with an overall plot, and more dudes (well-drawn ones, even!), and explosions. Lots of explosions.

I've really appreciated the little bits of fan response that've trickled in recently, by the way. It really is amazing, yanno, considering I haven't really updated in...a while.

I'm probably going to make at least a token appearance at AMA this year, and I've got it into my head to try (operative word TRY) to go to Otakon. We'll see how that goes.

I'm attempting to have some pieces in their respective art shows. Not sure what the Otakon policy is, but I'm pretty sure I can pull AMA, if I start working now.

Would anybody be interested in buying prints or original copies of art by me, by the by? Commissions I have attempted in the past and failed horribly at, so these would be works that I just, yanno... do. Unless they were really simple requests, like "I want Squirrel Girl!" or "I want some chick with a gun" or something.

It'd be REALLY easy for me to ship stuff out, as we're well-equipped (thanks to my dad's recent e-bay bug...), so... I dunno. It'd motivate me to draw more, anyway, and help me along towards saving for cons and stuff (like a less-shitty computer I could run Photoshop on!), and so on... just a thought.

Anyhow. I ramble. Feedback on any or all of this is much 'preciated, tho. You should know where to go, by now.

I hope to be able to update with ACTUAL COMICNESS soon, but if not, keep an eye out for TLTR when it launches. For lo, it shall be GLORIOUS INDEED.

*ker-DEAD!* [30 Mar 2003|10:11pm]
[ mood | tired ]

Okay, so the first couple weeks of employment really laid the wang down on me.

I'm trying to come up with MOER OF TEH FUNNEY and perhaps some sort of a backlog. I dunno. I'm scheduled less time this week and should have more 'down time' for the sketchies. Been doodling some at work and I do believe I have ideas for a comic or two for the upcoming week. We'll just have to see what happens.

sick + work = dead kateses.

I'll have at least one new comic up by week's end, promise promise. Even if I have to draw it one panel at a time at work.

'riding a unicorn in search of a parody' [13 Mar 2003|10:29am]
[ mood | apologetic ]

[Today's Comic]

A webcomic that swiftly grew to became a favorite of mine, Unicorn Jelly, ended last week (there is an epilogue, however, that has just started). The ending, however, left some...unsatisfied. It was subject to a lot of debate because it was quite unclear and, to many, frustratingly confusing.

Today's strip is a very very shoddy parody of that ending. It got stuck in my head, damn it, and it had to get out somehow. Prior drafts of this, to give you some idea of what you have been rescued from, were called 'Finally, the Candy Corn' and 'Finally, the Hobbit Porn' (sorry, Mel).

The next strip (tomorrow's, hopefully) will be the fallout. Nothing like the above should go unpunished. 8'P

Again, voluminous apologies to Jennifer Reitz, who is awesome and the bestest drawer-with-a-mouse both sides of the Pecos.

Oh, and for those that may be just joining us: the Archive page has yet to be updated since BAU's return. The comeback starts here.

half-assed but done [12 Mar 2003|10:10pm]

Tomorrow's comic is in the queue. I had to kinda cobble it together from pre-existing art and one bad mouse drawing, but it's done.

The PC's pretty much okay now. So I'll work on comics tomorrow (Wednesday, technically later today), and hopefully all will go well for a Thursday-Friday-Saturday run.

And I'm gonna try working up a backlog of stuff for the rest of the week, because Saturday is orientation for my new job. I'm not sure how my time will balance out once I start working, but we'll just have to see.

In other brief news, I'm looking into investing in some web space and a domain and getting my arse off Keenspace. Mostly cos I need the space for other stuff as well, so I might as well. But it may not be for a little while, mostly cos I need to settle on a domain name.

And now, I am going to bed.

[ mood | blah ]

Well, it's bright and early on this Tuesday morning, and I was all set to go ahead with scanning the linework and coloring and lettering and so forth, now that I had access to the PC (where all said activities occur).

So I'm settling down here at the Mac doing my thing and the PC, which has been in sleep mode all night, jerks "awake" and reboots. Displaying a screen that bodes of 'imminent hard drive failure'. Not good. So here we are: I don't know what to do except let the PC sit. My brother's at school until whenthehellever, my dad's at work, and those two are the only ones who can help. It also doesn't help that the tablet no longer works on this here Mac. >.<

So I'm going to try perhaps either cobbling together a comic out of pre-existing art, re-drawing the comics I've got with the mouse, or waiting to see just how farged the PC is.

::sigh:: This would happen just when I was getting back into the swing of things, wouldn't it. -_-;;

Further updates as events warrant. Stay tuned, kids.

update schedule for the week of March 10th [09 Mar 2003|02:05pm]

Next week will see a Tuesday-Thursday-Saturday update rotation. I have three strips tentatively scripted out, but nothing drawn as of this moment. Still, barring massive disaster or distraction, there should be three comics up next week.

[Today's comic]

Yep, that is indeed my house. The tree actually fell a couple of weeks ago, and as I type this it has since been cut down and taken apart, and the roof repair guys are doing their thing at this very moment. It's a little nutty, with Zoe and Daisy barking their fool heads off and all.

As I said before, new comics are guaranteed this Wednesday and Friday, and they will be in a somewhat more 'conventional' format than this freeform jazz I've been doing thus far. They're uploaded, they're ready, we have no problems.

I'll try to have something done for the following week... if not an actual BAU strip, then something entertaining of the comic variety. I have a couple things in mind, actually.

As always, the invitation stands for anyone who wants to do guest strips or art or anything at all. I love the stuff I've gotten in the past and can't wait to see more. ^^

New to the strip? Like what you see? Drop me a comment here (click here to open the blog in a new window--it's easier to make comments that way), e-mail me (put 'BAU' or 'fan mail' or something in the subject so I don't accidentally delete it or something), or sign the guestbook (see the link on the main page).

In the meantime, I'll seeya on Wednesday!

Visit BUSINESS AS UNUSUAL this upcoming Monday, Wednesday, and Friday for SHINY NEW COMICS from yours truly. Will this become a habit? Who knows? But you are guaranteed three days of COLOR COMIC GOODNESS to enjoy for the time being.

Oh, and I've added a disclaimer to the site for a reason. You'll see.

My lord, it's been a while, hasn't it.

Apologies to everyone for dropping off the face of the earth, as it were. Life in general had gotten a bit...intense, among other things.

Honestly, I'm not sure what I'm going to do with BAU. I have a lot more free time to work on it now, that's for sure, but inspiration has been pretty lacking for me lately.

I'd like to try my hand at something a bit more serious, something with a running plot... I have some ideas bouncing around, but I won't start anything until I have a good portion of it plotted out and sketched and whatnot.

In the meantime, there are a few last BAU strips I may be able to put up... we'll see.

Stay tuned, folks, and thanks to those of you who've hung in there this long.

First off, those wishing to join my legions of evil should click here.. I'm in a bit of a competition, you see. Don't worry, it won't hurt... much... ^^

Hehee.

So anyway, dearies, BAU's next comic will be posted this Thursday, October 31st and it will be a special one, so don't miss out!

And have you been checking Whim for sporadic BAU goodness? Have you?

HAVE YOU?

Okay, good then. See y'all later! ^^

[ mood | determined ]

Yeah, yeah, I know. Hell of a "comeback". I guess I wasn't prepared for all the loops real life was gonna throw me in the meantime.

So the REAL comeback for BAU on Keenspace will hopefully be sometime in the next couple of weeks. I won't set a precise date just yet. In the meantime, a new comic will be up just about every Friday on Whim, come rain or come shine.

My apologies for kinda dropping off the face of the earth. It's been really strange and really hectic and I've had a hard time getting shit done. BAU will be back before the end of October. I can promise you that much.

I'm going to be back home this upcoming weekend for Fall Break, and will hopefully be able to draw and scan like a mofo in an attempt to catch up. And if I have to go as far as making sprites of the damned BAU charas, I will. 8'P Anything to ensure that the strip will go on by any means necessary.

I thank all my incredibly patient readers for being so...uhm.... incredibly patient. ^^;;;

AH'M NAWT DAID!!!!! [10 Sep 2002|05:17pm]
[ mood | optimistic ]

BUSINESS AS UNUSUAL will be making its triumphant return to the web THIS FRIDAY! Honest to God! Stay tuned for details!

We apologize for the unannounced hiatus, but life has, to this point, simply gotten in the way. But there are BOLD NEW THINGS on the horizon which require EXTENSIVE CAPITAL LETTERING to better translate their sheer glory and awesomeness.

So be prepared to be blown away. Or thoroughly confused. Or both. BAU is stretching beyond its humble college/gamer roots and going where no 'quirky chicks' comic has gone before...

See you Friday, kiddies. ^^
